Building on previous successes at The News Virginian, I continued to earn recognition from the Virginia Press Association (VPA). The 2016 awards, which were judged by members of a different state press association to ensure objectivity, evaluated entries based on the quality of design, execution, and effectiveness in conveying the advertiser’s message.
This advertisement for Augusta Sign Company earned 1st Place in the Professional/Technology Services category for 2016. This category is highly competitive, covering a wide range of expert services and requiring a layout that instantly communicates professionalism and industry authority.
Design Strategy:
- Impactful Typography: Utilized bold, sans-serif fonts for the primary call to action, “GROW YOUR PROFITS IN 2017!”, to grab attention and focus the reader’s eye on the core value proposition.
- Visual Service Menu: Employed a clean, bulleted list of services—Signage, Banners, Window Graphics, Vehicle Graphics, and Yard Signs—to provide a comprehensive overview of the company’s capabilities at a glance.
- Brand Integration: Anchored the design with the Augusta Sign Company logo and distinct contact information, ensuring high brand recall and easy access for potential clients.
- Strategic White Space: Balanced the bold headline with structured text to maintain a professional hierarchy, adhering to the VPA’s judging criteria for clean and uncluttered execution.
