- Award: 1st Place, Multiple Advertisers & Themed Pages (Color) 2013
- Competition: Virginia Press Association (VPA) Annual Advertising Contest
- Publication: The News Virginian
During my time at The News Virginian, some of my favorite projects were those that supported our local community. This “Double Truck” (two-page spread) for the SPCA was a true labor of love. My goal was to take dozens of individual business sponsors and weave them into a single, cohesive theme that honored the pets waiting for their forever homes.
This project earned First Place in its category through the Virginia Press Association (VPA). The VPA is a statewide organization that recognizes excellence in journalism and advertising across Virginia’s media landscape. Each year, submissions are evaluated by out-of-state judges to ensure an objective look at the creative strategy and technical skill involved.
Managing a large-scale, high-complexity layout like this requires a steady hand and technical precision, especially when coordinating so many different elements across a newspaper spread. This award is a meaningful milestone in my career, reflecting the decade-plus of experience and dependability I bring to every project. It shows that whether a project is big or small, I’ve always been committed to delivering professional results for the people and organizations in our area.
